Bearing that in mind, here are three stocks favored by the Street's top pros, according to TipRanks, a platform that ranks analysts based on their past performance. Silberman noted that U.S. same-store sales growth of 5.6% reflected broad-based momentum, with improved traffic experienced in carryout and delivery. She added that the traffic growth was driven by Domino's revamped loyalty program, strong value proposition, operations and innovation. The analyst also noted that DPZ is benefiting from increased contributions from Uber Eats, thanks to growing marketing efforts and awareness. The analyst thinks that the company's strategic initiatives will enhance same-store sales growth and drive meaningful restaurant margin expansion in the near and long term.

The funds must be used by the end of September, creating a sharp funding cliff as schools also struggle with widespread enrollment declines and inflation. Many districts have warned of layoffs as the current school year comes to a close and next year’s budgets are planned. Not only is the federal funding ending, but enrollment at the district’s schools has fallen by nearly 500 students – or roughly 5% – since 2019. Pandemic aid comes to an endAfter the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020, Congress authorized three rounds of federal funding to help K-12 schools respond. But that’s partly because some districts, flush with pandemic funding, have been adding positions while enrollment in public schools has been declining nationally.

The Nasdaq Composite added 1.14% while the S & P 500 advanced 1.85% in a relatively quiet week of economic updates. Thinking back to when Donald Trump was president, what one thing do you remember most about Donald Trump’s presidency? Like past presidents, Mr. Trump has enjoyed a higher approval rating of his time in office in retrospect. Some of them may have spoken about Mr. Trump generally because of the multitude of controversies during his time in office, Mr. Sides said. A handful of voters in the survey, mostly Trump supporters, looked back on the Trump years as a time of peace. In the battle over memories, the Biden campaign will be trying to remind voters of some older ones that reflect poorly on Mr. Trump.

Officials said a US delegation will travel to Niger over the weekend to discuss how it will be carried out. “Niger is pretty profound in the decision of the government there … to have us depart or at least go to very low numbers,” Maier said. Since the coup in July, airspace has been closed over Niger to foreign militaries who have all had to submit individual requests for airspace to conduct military flights, one US official told CNN. A US military official explained that the withdrawal will come in phases over a period of months. The footprint will continue to shrink in phases as equipment and personnel not deemed necessary are moved out of country.

Japan's overall household spending in March fell 1.2% year on year, less than the 2.4% expected by a Reuters poll of economists. However, on a month-on-month basis, household spending rose 1.2%, compared with estimates of a 0.3% drop. Should the index reach the futures level, it would be its highest in about nine months.

Growth Stocks. Value Stocks. What Do Those Labels Mean?
  + stars: | 2024-05-10 | by ( Jeff Sommer | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
Growth and value are basic categories in stock investing. They are so widely used that you might assume that they mean something specific. Growth stocks promise to deliver a lot of earnings in the future but often deliver less than other stocks right now. Value stocks are priced well below what their advocates consider to be their real worth. If you look under the hood, you will find that what’s called growth or value in leading stock indexes can be wildly different, and can change year by year.

These stocks could be poised to join the S & P 500 when the broad index undergoes its quarterly rebalance next month, according to some Wall Street analysts. Keefe Bruyette & Woods also views a financial services stock as a likely addition to the S & P 500, citing the sector's underweight position. There's a "mid to high probability" that Erie resettles in the S & P 500. The S & P 500 isn't the only index poised for potential changes. Gandhi sees a strong likelihood that Ryan Specialty Holdings joins the S & P Midcap 400, while New York Community Bancorp could drop down to the S & P SmallCap 600 .

It’s easy to think of a colloquial definition — hatred and bigotry directed against Jews — but it’s much harder than you might think to define it legally. This legal ambiguity is especially problematic when our nation is facing what President Biden called a “ferocious surge” in antisemitism. Last week, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, a bill intended to protect Jewish students from discrimination on campus, passed with broad bipartisan support. The law is motivated by good intentions in support of a necessary purpose, but the bill itself is deeply flawed. To understand what’s good about the act, it’s necessary to understand the legal ambiguities that now exist on campus.

Vice President Kamala Harris attacked the conservative-controlled Supreme Court on Wednesday, warning that its future decisions could limit a broad range of civil rights and personal freedoms for many Americans. In an interview with The New York Times, she expanded on her criticism of the court’s decision to overturn federally guaranteed abortion rights in 2022, going beyond President Biden’s past comments to raise direct alarms about Justice Clarence Thomas and the broader direction of the court. “This court has shown itself to be an activist court,” said Ms. Harris, who previously served as California’s attorney general and as the district attorney of San Francisco. “I worry about fundamental freedoms across the board.”Asked what specific legal precedents could be undone by the court, Ms. Harris demurred, saying she was “hesitant” to do so.

Price growth was partially offset by lower mortgage costs, as 30-year fixed rates hung between 6.6% and 6.94% in the first quarter. That's a small win for buyers, considering that rates peaked at 7.8% late last year and were above 7% until mid-December. At the first sight of lower mortgage rates, that widespread price appreciation has returned — much to the chagrin of buyers who thought they were going to catch a break. Conversely, prices fell outright only in 15 cities, versus 32 in the fourth quarter of 2023. 15 cities where home prices are downBelow are those 15 US real-estate markets where single-family home prices fell from last year.

“I worry about fundamental freedoms across the board.”Asked what specific legal precedents could be undone by the court, Ms. Harris demurred, saying she was “hesitant” to do so. Image At a campaign event in Elkins Park, Pa., on Wednesday, Ms. Harris cast abortion rights as an issue of personal freedom. She said she judged Mr. Trump based on his conduct, adding that she had never met him personally. “I think they might do that,” Mr. Trump said of states’ monitoring of women’s pregnancies in an interview with Time magazine last month.
